Justin Na

Hello! My name is Justin Na, and I am a student at Bergen County Academies in New Jersey. Since March 2025, I have been interning with Dr. Youn to explore my interest in dentistry. Clinically, I am observing firsthand how state-of-the-art digital technology enhances patient care and streamlines workflow. Working alongside Dr. Youn’s chairside assistant, I am learning important steps for infection control and sterilization protocols. Through this internship, I have developed a deeper appreciation for how modern dentistry merges art, science, and emerging technology. Dr. Youn has emphasized that exceptional patient care relies on clear communication, compassion, and seamless teamwork.
My internship has included experiences beyond the walls of the operatory. I visited the manufacturing division of an implant company to learn about the precision engineering, design, and quality control needed to produce safe, high-performing implants. I have also attended seminars with Dr. Youn to review implant case studies and application of technology in real life implant cases. Lastly, I attended the Greater New York Dental Meeting, where I met dental students from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, and the Touro College of Dental Medicine, who shared their inspiration for pursuing dentistry. Walking through the halls of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and interacting with vendors showcasing their latest innovative products was one of the highlights of my experience.
Beyond dentistry, I am deeply committed to STEM education. I co-founded TechSprouts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing equitable learning opportunities in STEM to underserved and vulnerable communities. Through our engagement with the Boys & Girls Club, we host weekly after-school and summer programs, teaching middle school students using a STEM-rich curriculum that emphasizes problem-solving, collaboration, and critical-thinking skills. We also partner with the Nigerian Consulate in New York to contribute to Nigeria's educational reform agenda, focusing on supporting female education and reintegrating out-of-school children into classrooms. To date, three shipments of school supplies and educational materials have been delivered and we continue to fundraise to achieve our next goal of building classrooms in local Nigerian communities.
Outside of STEM, I am passionate about robotics and playing the trumpet and compete on state and international levels for both. I also enjoy playing basketball, fencing, and rooting for the Brooklyn Nets.
